Round 4 – Bryant Park

Entries are NOW OPEN for Round 4 of the 2025 Trydel EZIUP and Go Victorian HillClimb Championship.

We return to Bryant Park, with PIARC hosting their traditional Round 4 of the Championship.

Utilising the Figure 8 layout, which was the same layout used at the Australian HillClimb Championship in 2024, some competitors may feel they have some unfinished business to attend to, while others might be wanting to see if any changes they’ve made have been an improvement.

Class Regulations

After a number of discussions at a Panel level regarding vehicle eligibility, the Panel would like to encourage all competitors within the Victorian Hill Climb Championship to check their relevant 2025 class regulations.See the link below, which will take you to the Motorsport Australia Circuit Race Appendix where you will find regulations for classes within the VHCC.

Victorian Hill Climb Championship Survey

The VHCAP invite all competitors to take part in a short 2 minute survey to ascertain competitor desire to expand the series beyond 6 rounds. There is also a ‘general feedback’ box for competitors to add anonymous feedback for the panel to consider.

Event Updates - Round 3 Review

The 2025 Trydel EZIUP and GO Victorian Hill Climb Championship continued on March 22^nd and 23^rd with Round 3 of the Championship hosted by Ballarat Light Car Club at Mount Leura.

With Ballarat Light Car Club investing significantly in the Mount Leura course to ensure the event can continue into the future, it was fantastic to see 83 competitors lining up to take part in one of only 2 public road events that we have in the Championship.

With the weather on its best behaviour, competitors were offered an amazing 5 runs on Saturday and 4 runs on Sunday – with plenty of opportunities for track improvement over the weekend, it was unsurprising to see many competitors set their fastest time on their final run of the weekend.

With some heavy hitters going for outright honours, it was going to be a close event and indeed by the end of Sunday, Dean Tighe broke through for his first VHCC Round victory with a best time of 28.39 in his Dallara F395.

David Mahon and Alan Foley pushed Dean all the way, with David getting down to a 28.59 in his Dallara F394 and Alan doing a best time of 28.70 in his RFoley Libre. Both David and Alan improved significantly on their last run of the weekend, which pushed 2024 VHCC Champion, Mike Barker off the podium. Mike managed to get down to a 29.01 in his Hayward 6.

In 5^th outright, and fastest tin top for the weekend was Mirko Grbic in his Time Attack Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7. With a best time of 29.96, Mirko joined a very illustrious club of sub 30 second tin top vehicles to race at Mount Leura.

In the tin top battle, Mirko Grbic was well and truly clear of the field, with his stunning 29.96 run.

In 2^nd place was David Harris in his WRX with a best time of 32.08, with Zachary Hanlin rounding out the podium with a 32.93 in his BMW 140i.

Sarah Bail was the fastest female at Mount Leura, with a best time of 36.99 in her Mallock U2 Mk21 Sports Car.

In the Class Battles:

• David Casey (Suzuki Cuppaccino, 35.62) and Sei Vella (Mazda MX5, 35.99) were separated by 0.37 after a big final run by David to get the win in Sports Cars Open/Closed up to 2000cc.

• Geoff Cooling (Subaru WRX, 34.59) and Tom Foley (Audi S3, 34.69) were separated by 0.1 for 2^nd and 3^rd place in Sports Sedan AWD.

• John Read (Mazda MX5, 38.89) and Lasith Liyanage (Subaru BRZ, 38.89) tied for 2^ndplace in Production Sports 2B & 2F up to 2000cc.

• Damian Faulkner (Ford Escort, 38.18) and Peter Lock (Morris Cooper, 38.47) were separated by 0.29 in the battle for 2^nd and 3^rd place in Improved Production 0-1600cc.

• Leigh Ball (Formula Vee, 39.91) and Harold Roberts (Formula Vee, 39.91) tied for 2^ndplace in Formula Vee, running the same best time on the same run.
