To all Competitors of the Victorian Hill Climb Championship,

Most of you will be aware that every year, reviews are undertaken by the various motorsport classes in Australia, including the National Sports Sedan Series and Improved Production Racing Association of Australia, to ensure that their rules and regulations are up to date and provide the fairest competition possible.

With this in mind, the Panel has become aware of some class regulation changes that have occurred.

In particular, the rules relating to forced induction (ie – turbocharged and supercharged) vehicles competing in Improved Production classes, which are required to run a restrictor on the intake side of the device (Group 3J – Improved Production Cars, Technical Regulations – Section 4.5).

This season has seen quite a bit of discussion between competitors and the panel relating specifically to this rule. The panel would like to reiterate to all competitors that the onus is always on the competitor to ensure that their vehicle complies with current class regulations.

For the rest of the 2025 season, we will continue with how the season started – ie – forced induction vehicles do not require a restrictor. However, the panel is investigating how we can ensure that this rule is complied with for 2026, including the review of classes to more closely align our series with the National Speed Event class structure.

The Panel reviews our Standing Regulations in October each year and this year we will review the class structure for 2026 to ensure a fair playing field for all competitors. The Standing Regulations will be finalized and published well before Round 1 of the Victorian Hill Climb Championship in January 2026.

Good luck for the rest of the season!

Regards,

Victorian Hill Climb Advisory Panel
