Entries are now OPEN for Round 1 of the Rob Roy Interclub series. The event will utilise the new layout (chicane version) of Rob Roy. This would be a good chance for regular VHCC competitors to get some practice in before we return to Rob Roy for Round 5 in May. Entries close on the 1/4/24.

Entries for Round 4 of the Trydel Victorian Hill Climb Championship at Bryant Park are now OPEN. This will be the last event for the VHCC at Bryant Park this year, so make sure you get your entry in. As usual, spectating is free, so if you can’t make it, come down and support your fellow competitors. Entries close on the 18/4/24.

New self-extraction rules for 2024

Current licence holders should have seen the recent Motorsport Australia bulletin on this matter. To ensure drivers can exit their vehicle in under 15 seconds, Clubs are required to begin testing self-extraction at events during 2024.

On that basis, the Hill Climb Panel recommends you start practicing self-extraction from your own vehicle before you compete in 2024. The extraction process should commence with the driver fully strapped in and preferably with a helmet on. You must be able to exit under 15 seconds in 2024 and then under 10 seconds in 2024.

Voluntary Commentary Notes

In order to help out Phil Memry with his commentary at our events, we are aiming to provide him with some notes from each competitor to give him some extra information on cars and competitors to talk through for the spectators at the event. The notes have been attached to this email and are completely voluntary for each competitor, but will only take around 10 minutes to fill out. If they could be emailed back to us at vichcpanelsec@gmail.com before the event so we can print them out that would be greatly appreciated.

Phil was appreciative of those who took the time to complete the document as it gave him some information to talk through in the quiet periods.

Updated: Jun 15, 2024

To 2024 VHCC competitors,

The Ballarat Light Car Club has advised the Hill Climb Panel they will not be able to run their annual championship round at Mt. Leura on the 1st and 2nd of June 2024.

The club has been working on some track upgrades required for their Motorsport Australia track licence approval. In addition, the club has become aware of some other local regulatory requirements unrelated to the track licence approval. This requires a separate local application and approval process that may not be resolved in time for the rescheduled date in June at Mt. Leura.

We apologise for the relatively late notice of this announcement as many of you will have made your travel and accommodation plans for Mt. Leura.

The Panel is very keen to still provide you with a six round championship this year. The feasibility of a replacement round at another venue will be discussed at our next meeting on Thursday 9 May.

Cheers,

John Read
